Last Canthan new year, I was very lucky to get 3 minis in my first 72 fortunes. I was laughing.

Thanks for all the info. Since I only have two characters, maybe I'll make some factions characters so I can partake enough to get a mini. I've read that the festivities are on Shining Jea Island so I'm assuming I wouldn't have to advance characters very far to do the quests?

The hard ones I think would be beating UW and tormented.
With the changes and the lack of PuGs, you would be forced to create a sin if you are in a small guild.
Tormented is doable but takes time. Don't give away gemstones for coffers.

As a player with limited play time (and attention span!) I achieved my 30/50 through mostly the Fellowship/Resilience/Devotion (Heros/Armor/Minipets) points. You basically have to pick between doing part of the GWAMM title grind, or spending money to fill out your other monuments. Valor (Weapons) also isn't too bad if you have the patience to hunt for the currently rather scarce Destroyer weapon crafting materials.

Destroyer weapons are rather mind numbingly easy to get. I bought two for the heck of it, even purchasing the few diamonds and onyxs I was short. That just became a lot more expensive, but it pennies on the dollar compared to Tormented weapons and Vabbi/Obby armor.

I do regret that I now have 10 weapons, most of which I find incredibly ugly and will never actually use, but hey.. I saved lots of money.

Honestly, if you do the vanquisher & guardian titles plus either Lux or Kurz you probably will make 250k... pick everything up, ID it, merch the crap...
Also, hero armors are easy to farm and sell well if you have any surplus. Oppressor weapons are pretty easy to churn out (sell them and buy destroyer weapons?) or... visit the give away section of Ventari

Just to go through all of these, they are mostly very easy to do:
Sorrows Furnace - Easy peasy H/H
FoW - easy peasy if you join a Fowsc group (I just monk, got a group, won)
Mallyx - easiest of the lot, just join a DWG group, I've dont lots of runs now and also got my tormented wep.
Underworld - this one is a lot harder and the only difficult one out of them all. There are SC groups, but without experience and practice with your role, you will mos likely fail. Fortunately, there are lots of videos on youtube teaching how to do this, you need to watch, study, and remember how to play every minute of UWsc from those videos. Non SC groups dont exist outside of guild groups anymore.
Deep / Urgoz - These are actually both very easy, and fortunately for me, I already had both of them done. The only hard part is that there are never any groups forming, but I hear that lots of people do it during the Zaishen bounty.
For titles - Guardians, Skill Hunter and Reputation titles are easy. I see a lot of people mentioning vanqs, however IMO these take a very long time to complete, and from calculating on my second account which only has 3 points, you dont need to do Vanqs at all to get to 30 points.

Halloween and wintersday are the times to make lots of cash. 250k in those weeks are incredibly easy.
One way to get cash fast, farm feathers from LA to Bergen hotsprings and vice versa. You get stacks of feathers(8.5 to 9k each), caromi scalps wich can be traded for party or sweet points(or get the feathers from them). You get golds, sell them to ID-ers. You get lots and lots of runes and now also ToT bags.
Or if you have a 100b warrior do raptor farming. Or when elementalist or assassin go veattir farming.

For money I've started doing dungeon runs for people. Just get decent at completing dungeons with your Heroes and Henchmen, then you can take people with you to complete dungeons. They pay you good money and you get a lot of loot too. Much more fun than doing the same farm over and over again.

Did this really need to be sticky?
1) Play the game
2) Do the things you find easiest to do on the HoM list
Vote to unsticky this, too many stickies are the curse of forums.

I'm gaining money through VQ's (and not forgetting Nightfall treasure chests!), getting the VQ titles done, and spending the money on mats/mini's/anything else I need. People just need to be patient, GW2 won't be out for a long time, and even though VQ's do take time, you have time!

Fun for me, I filled out my HOM with destroyer weapons when the materials were cheap and easily farmed. I just sold off my inventory of 150 diamonds/100 onyx in preparation to buy the last 6 4th/5th year minis I need to get 49/50. After that, it's work for an oppressor weapon time. I already have 8 MoH's from royal gifts/quest rewards, I just need to finish the quest series when I'm back on a fast internet connection.
Is SOO still runnable? If so, that's probably the best bet for getting diamonds/onyx...then salvage drops for iron. Doing oola's lab for golem runestones will give you plenty of granite...or you can farm it outside Sardelac in HM old-school. Plenty of options out there to getting destroyer weapons on the cheap. When you get them, just load them up on your heroes so you don't really have to use them.
As far as titles, that's already been discussed ad nauseum. But completing those titles tends to allow you to earn money towards new armors for yourself and heroes, and the consumable titles. Chest run for lucky/unlucky, PVP for the low level titles you need. You can get 50/50 without GWAMM by foregoing the consumable titles and just getting to r3 in three different PVP classes.

Quick question: I'm at 34/50 with all of my armor and weapons to go. I enough money to buy them out several times over, but what is the cheapest/fastest way? Can I buy my ranger 5 sets of vabbian armor, put them in the HoM and then immediately scrap them from my inventory while still having it count for 5 individual armors? Would I need to do it on different characters (only 1 character really has access to advanced armor)?

Do all the missions in HM, hand in all the books and then do all the vanquishes.
Then repeat for the dungeons in EotN.
If you do ZQuests on a regular basis too, you'll get to 250k.

Take a closer look at what the calculator says / requires. It only counts for each unique set. In other words; if your ranger has vabbian, and so does another character, and you add them both, it only counts as having 1 set of vabbian. Having multiple sets of the same elite armor on a single character probably wouldn't even let you add more than the 1st set. But regardless, it would only display 1 monument. Each set needs to be different. The same applies to mini's and weapons.
